Welcome!

Hello my wonderful students! This blog is for you and for your parents. On this blog you will find the weekly homework posted each Saturday. Each day I will post what we did in class and I will also post what I want you to study at home.

I know English is a hard language! But I also know that you can be a successful student if you keep on working hard in class and at home! I am here to help you, and I want to help you in any way I can. If you do a good job as a student, I am certain that you will have a wonderful time learning this language!

This blog is also for parents! I am starting this blog so that what we cover in class is much clearer and if you have any questions at all you can contact me directly. With your love and encouragement, students will be successful learners :)
Thank you so much for your support!

4b: We talked about our family members and played the game "who am i?"

I am your parent's parents.  I am your GRANDPARENTS

We also started workbook pages 36 and 37.

The second time we had English, I was surprised to hear some students say that they "hate" their teachers.  So, in their notebooks, I had my students write and think about the question : WHY SHOULD YOU RESPECT YOUR TEACHERS?

I want students to think about this question.  In my class, and in all classes, students MUST be respectful to all their teachers and their classmates.

*NOTE FOR PARENTS*

***PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD HAS THEIR ACTIVITY NOTEBOOK IN CLASS EVERYDAY***

**PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD BRINGS A FOLDER JUST FOR ENGLISH CLASS EVERY DAY***

Dear Parents,
First, I want to say a warm hello.  Second, I want to thank you for being wonderful parents. I know that it is not easy for your child to adjust to a new foreign teacher, or to not be able to speak Arabic during English class in the classroom.  However, I can assure you that, within my first month of teaching I am seeing a huge improvement in students ability to speak English!  I am adjusting to the system here also, and I want to keep clear communication with you, so that we can work as a team for the success of your child.

I will post what we do in class daily.  It is very important, I feel, that to be an English learner, students must not only be able to read and write in English, but also have good understanding of English and be comfortable speaking it! We do many speaking exercises in class so that students feel comfortable asking questions and answering questions in English.  Practice, practice, practice is key!

Class time is very important.  To learn a language, students must be able to hear what is being said in English in class.
IMPORTANT NOTE : CLASS BEHAVIOR is an important part of your child's grade! Please tell your child to behave in class.  I will take off points for any fighting, shouting and screaming, throwing, running and talking in class.  PLEASE REMIND YOUR CHILD that they must listen in class! If they have problems understanding, they need to ask me and I will help them.

For the last 3 weeks, I have used many worksheets to help students with their grammar, comprehension, and English writing.  We will be using the Pupil's Book, the Workbook, Grammar worksheets, Reading passages and doing short writing exercises in class.  Students should expect at least one short quiz every week.  Dictations will also be once a week.  When I give UNIT TESTS to students, it will also have the grammar that we studied in class.  I will ALWAYS provide the student with a review sheet before the Unit Test to help them with studying.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Kind regards,
Ms. Fahmida
